Western Ferries (Clyde) is a private company which operates a fleet of second-hand double-ended ferries between McInroy's Point (Gourock) and Hunter's Quay (north of Dunoon) in competition with the Caledonian MacBrayne service.

M.V. Sound of Scalpay (1961)

Sound of Scalpay is Western Ferries largest vessel, and though acquired in 1995 dates from 1961 when she was built for service in Amsterdam. A near sister Sound of Sanda recently joined the fleet also.

Sound of Sanda is a near sister to Sound of Scalpay, and entered service with Western Ferries in 1996.

Sound of Sleat is also a former Dutch ferry, and has now been with Western Ferries since 1988. Her side ramps are not used.
