If you are interested in vessels of the Clyde and Western Isles, you should join the following clubs:

Clyde River Steamer Club

Details from: Stuart Craig, CRSC President and Membership Secretary, 50 Earlspark Avenue, Glasgow G43 2HW

Current membership: £13 (£6.50 if under 18)

The club has its own CRSC website

As part of membership, you will receive the useful Annual Review of shipping activity on the Clyde (and related services) and the beautifully produced annual club magazine Clyde Steamers, as well as occasional newsletters giving details of forthcoming events and publications for sale.

West Highland Steamer Club

Details from: R. W. Love, WHSC Treasurer, 29 Cyprus Avenue, Elderslie, Renfrewshire PA5 9NB.

Current membership: £10

As part of membership, you will receive the biannual newsletter which gives details of shipping activity in the Western Isles (and related services).

The club has its own WHSC website

Both clubs also have regular club meetings in Glasgow and organise occasional special sailings on CalMac (and other) vessels.

If you are interested in all ferries serving the UK and Northern Europe, you should subscribe to European Ferry Scene. This is published quarterly by Ferry Publications, and gives an excellent summary (and photographs) of recent activities in the various ferry sectors around our coast.

Ferry Publications also produce a fine range of books related to ferries, including fleet histories and vessel profiles. Ferries of the British Isles and Northern Europe is the current "bible" giving details of all ferries operating in the region.

Details from: Ferry Publications, PO Box 9, Narberth, Pembrokeshire SA68 0YT.
